Kovarik destroys the downhill field in both the National and the SRC race!

Even with a host of top factory riders including a couple top world cup riders like Nathan Rennie and Oscar Saiz in the house, Chain Reaction's Chris Kovarik remains unbeaten at Fontana. If todays results are any indication of whats to come for the rest of the season, the Pro Downhillers better step up their game big time if they want any hope of beating Mr. Kovarik.

Barry Wicks takes Impressive Win in Todays Pro Mens Short Track and Super D!!!

A huge field of riders took on the hot, dry dusty Fontana Short Track course to show everyone who had something left after yesterdays tough XC event. After an early break away Barry Wicks looked to have the race in hand until a hard charging Adam Craig, Geoff Kabush and Max Plaxton came knocking on his door. Their efforts however were not enough as Barry was able to hold them off to the line.
After all that Barry edged out the king of second place Adam Craig in the Super D as well. Craig wins the consistency award with his third second place finish of the weekend.

Team Yeti Rider Ross Milan WINS NMBS 4X!

Although it was Rich Houseman on a Yeti that was the fastest qualifier the day before, it was the Yeti riden by Ross Milan who took the victory today.
As usual the 4X course served up some exciting racing and a few surprises. Houseman while in a transfer spot in round one slide out just before the finish line thus eliminating him from any chance of a win today.
Eric Carter made some impressive passes in the qualifying rounds but just missed out making the final round. Dale Holmes was looking to be the man to beat but in the final, as he put it " He fell asleep at the gate" and had to claw his way to the line to grab 3rd.

Kabush Wins the NMBS opener...again!

Pro Men's XC winner Geoff Kabush has proven to be unbeatable at Fontana. After sitting in the first couple of laps Kabush dropped the hammer mid way through the 2 hours plus race and put a huge gap on the field. Adam Craig closed the gap back up just a bit before the end, but it was clear Kabush was not going to be beaten today.

Winter Series Finals Recap DH:

Waylon Smith breaks Kovariks win streak! (Important Note: Kovarik didnt race...)

In a day of surprises nobody was more excited than Waylon Smith who broke out the skin suit and took his first win of 2008.
Chris Kovarik, who has won every event this year sprained his ankle earlier in the week and just wasn't ready to race yet. However, regarding the series, Kovarik didn't need to, as he had already wraped up the Winter Series title.

Dale Holmes wins the battle, but EC wins the war.

Dale Holmes

A larger than usual field was on hand today for the final race of the winter series. With the NMBS race and the Cal State race coming up in a few weeks riders were trying to get in some track time before the circus comes to town.

Tip of the day: If you are planning to race the NMBS in a few weeks you better be ready with your sprints. This course is not for the faint of heart!

Winter Series #4 DH

Chris Kovarik keeps his win streak alive by crushing the competition by over 8 seconds!

Rain fell steadily for the first half of the day making for some tough energy absorbing terrain. Even with all the rain the course was still very rideable thanks to the heavy sand content in the Fontana soil. As the day went on the skies cleared and the racers that went later in the day were treated to some sweet conditions.

Intense Rider Chris Kovarik once again took top honors in round #2 Downhill.

The downhill saw a great turnout considering the threatening skies. A huge field of 28 Pro Men and 11 Pro Women all took advantage of the absolute perfect conditions. The course was so sweet yours truly had to put down the camera and throw down a timed run.

BTW Joe Lawwill from Bikeskills posted a 2:19.95 time good enough to place 5th place overall in the pros...see photo to the right!
