Mammoth Mountain, CA – After a multi-year absence from competitive mountain biking events, Mountain bike racing is returning to Mammoth Mountain this summer with the 2009 California Golden State Mountain Bike Championships taking place September 4-6, 2009.
Mammoth Mountain has a long history of hosting world-class mountain bike events dating back to the 1989 World Mountain Bike Championship. The last competitive mountain biking race held at Mammoth Mountain was the 2005 U.S. Mountain Bike National Championships.
Taking place at and around Main Lodge, the event will feature all disciplines of mountain bike racing: Cross Country, Downhill, Super-D, Mountain Cross and Kamikaze. This event will also play host to a special “Legends of Mountain Biking” race featuring mountain biking legends Mike “Too Tall” Bell, Stu Thompson, Tom Rogers, former World Downhill Champion Greg “H-Ball” Herbold, Jimmy Deaton, Miles Rockwell, Bernard Unhassobiscay, Dave Cullinan and many others.
In addition to the spectacular racing set to take place, spectators will enjoy a festival village and live music throughout the four-day event.
